DBasia.news – AC Milan coach, Stefano Pioli, did not deny that his team had difficulties facing nine Bologna players. Fortunately, the Rossoneri scored two goals towards the end of the second half.
Milan worked hard at Stadio Dall’Ara as they were 2-0 up, but were leveled at 2-2 by 10-players Bologna. Goals were scored by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s own goal and Musa Barrow’s shot.
Bologna played with nine players in the second half. However, it took Milan until the last 10 minutes to regain the lead through Ismael Bennacer’s volley kick and Ibrahimovic’s goal.
“We struggled because we made the mistake of thinking the game was over when we were 2-0 up with more players. If you stop playing you are at risk in any scenario. Fortunately, we showed the strength to come back and win,” Pioli explained as reported by Sky Sports.
“Playing against nine players, it changed our mentality and became too understated. Having Giroud and Ibrahimovic at the same time also confused us. We did too many crosses without any particular purpose,” said Ibra.
Milan again showed the skill to score the winning goal in the closing minutes. Pioli made sure it wasn’t because of his fitness level.
“The mentality is what made the difference, which allowed us to win and keep believing in ourselves until the end,” said Pioli.
“This is a very important win. Now, we have to regain the physical and psychological energy to avoid mistakes like this.”
Currently, Milan is at the top of the standings with 25 points from nine matches. The Rossoneri are one point ahead of Napoli who are in second place and have yet to play their ninth week of action.
