Still in a financial crisis, Barcelona wants to purchase players in the next transfer market

DBasia.news – FC Barcelona is not out of trouble even though they have replaced Ronald Koeman, the club’s coach, and appointed Barca legend Xavi as the new coach. The Blaugrana’s inconsistency continues.

In the last two matches in all competitions Barca lost to Real Betis (0-1) in LaLiga, and lost 0-3 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The defeat to Bayern has sent Barca into the Europa League.

Barcelonau underwent various kinds of problems, ranging from the departure of Lionel Messi, financial problems as an ‘inheritance’ from the Josep Maria Bartomeu regime, to a squad that was not strong enough to win trophies.

Ahead of the winter transfer window (January 2022), Xavi realized his team needed additional ammunition and he had spoken to the board of directors about it. Xavi is also aware that it is not easy to make it happen in the midst of the club’s financial problems.

“We are working on it (preparing for a winter transfer), that’s the reality,” Xavi said as quoted by Football-Espana.

“There was a lot of trust and we had a productive meeting. I’m clear about what I believe in, what I want and what I need.”

“We have to find solutions to improve the team and improve the squad. I understand what the club situation is because of the wage bill and the restrictions imposed, but we have to improve our squad within the possibilities we have.”

Agreeing with Xavi’s words, Joan Laporta as Barca president also seeks to allow the club to add new ammunition to the Barca squad in the midst of the financial crisis.

“I share your (fans) disappointment with the elimination of (Barcelona from) the Champions League. We all agree that we have to strengthen the first team,” added Laporta.

“The problem is we have very high inheritance contracts that don’t give us a salary margin.”

“We are looking for a formula to improve the team this winter. We are working to achieve that and we will achieve it.”
