Cristiano Ronaldo got a red card when Juventus won 2-0 against Valencia at Matchday 1 of 2018-2019 Champions League. The Portugal national team captain was kicked by the referee at 24′.
The incident started when Cristiano Ronaldo had a clash with the former defender of Inter Milan, Jeison Murillo. At that time, Ronaldo touched Murillo’s head.
After that, the referee discussed with his assistant to decide Cristiano Ronaldo’s status. And then, the new megastar of Juventus got a red card.
Juventus players condemned the referee’s decision. They considered Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t deserve the red card in the first place.
After the match, Allegri spoke about the Cristiano Ronaldo’s incident. The Juventus coach believed they need VAR.
“I can only say that VAR would’ve helped the referee in this decision. Going down to 10 men in the Champions League for an incident like that is disappointing,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.
“We risked losing tonight with this and we’ll miss him for the next games too,” Allegri added.
Until now, there is no clue how long Ronaldo has to absent in supporting Juventus. However, the 33-year-old striker has the probability to be banned from three matches.
