DBasia.news – Only 22-years-old, Taiwo Awoniyi has been attracted by big European clubs. His name is still unfamiliar, but the Liverpool striker have attracted the attention of many European club scouts.
Reporting from the Mirror, the Nigerian U23 is now on the Bundesliga giant’s radar, Schalke 04. They even claimed to have directly contacted Jurgen Klopp to negotiate the player’s transfer. The same source also said that Liverpool would only release Awoniyi at a price of 10 million pounds.
Awoniyi himself has never at all strengthened Liverpool’s main team, although he has just signed a five-year contract extension with the Reds in the summer of 2018. The problem is, the striker did not get a work permit in England, considering he had never played with the senior Nigerian national team.
That problem also made him have to spend the last four seasons as a loan to FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, KAA Gent, and now, Mouscron.
Besides Schalke, several French Ligue 1 clubs are also reportedly exploring the opportunity to get their signatures, namely Nice, Metz and Toulouse.
