DBasia.news – Inter Milan’s duel against AC Milan in the 2020-2021 Coppa Italia quarter-final was marked by a feud between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku. The two players almost hit each other in the match titled the Derby della Madonnina.
In the match that took place at the Giuseppe Meazza, Wednesday (21/1), Inter made a brilliant comeback to advance to the semifinals. The Nerazzurri won 2-1 after falling behind.
Ibrahimovic gave Milan the lead with a goal in the 31st minute. His accurate kick into the left corner of the goal made Samir Handanovic unable to move.
Ibrahimovic and Lukaku’s commotion occurred when the game entered the 45th minute. This continued after the referee blew the long whistle signaling the end of the first half.
Lukaku initially protested to the referee after being violently violated. Then Ibrahimovic came over and said something.
After that, Lukaku appeared furious and approached Ibrahimovic. The two players had a head-to-head clash before being separated by their teammates.
As a result of this behavior, Ibrahimovic and Lukaku both received yellow cards. However, the punishment did not calm them down.
As the players walked into the locker room, Lukaku intended to approach Ibrahimovic even though his team mates tried to hold them back. However, Ibra was not provoked and continued walking off the field.
Reporting from Tuttomercatoweb, Ibrahimovic had insulted Lukaku. He also mentioned voodoo which means a kind of magic from Africa.
“Do that damn voodoo, you little donkey,” said Ibra to Lukaku.
Ibrahimovic’s words actually made Lukaku emotional. He felt that the former team-mate at Manchester United had insulted his mother.
Voodoo was mentioned as the reason Lukaku refused to stay at Everton a few seasons ago. He was advised to leave The Toffees by his mother who received a whisper from the black magic.
Lukaku has denied the allegations. But Ibrahimovic, who knew the rumors, made it a joke.
Ironically, Ibrahimovic’s yellow card due to his feud with Lukaku was one of the causes for Milan’s defeat. The player seemed to have received karma after receiving the same penalty again and turned into a red card at the start of the second half after violating Aleksandar Kolarov.
The expulsion of Ibrahimovic allowed Inter to freely bombard Milan’s goal. Two goals were finally scored by Antonio Conte’s team through Lukaku’s penalty and Christian Eriksen’s free kick.
The feud between the two sharp bombers did not seem to end there. Related parties will investigate this case after Ibrahimovic’s words were accused of being racist.
