The reason Mesut Ozil was not involved in the Europa League

DBasia.news –  In matchday 2 of Group F of the 2019-2020 Europa League which took place at the Emirates Stadium, the figure of Mesut Ozil was not involved in the match against Standard Liege on Friday (4/10).  In the opinion of Unai Emery, Arsenal manager, Ozil did not deserve to be in the team in that match.

Arsenal won a big win thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli (2), Joe Willock, and Dani Ceballos.  These results put the Gunners at the top of the standings.

The Gunners won by playing mostly young talent.  Meanwhile, senior players like Mesut Ozil did not get a call.

Unai Emery explained, the main reason for crossing out Ozil was because there were better players.  The Spanish manager will re-evaluate Ozil’s condition ahead of the match this weekend.

“I think every time in order to decide the best player in every game, the best player in the team and will help us,” said Emery as reported by BT Sport.

Mesut Ozil is indeed kept out of the main Arsenal squad.  This season, he has only played 172 minutes.  Not surprisingly, the former Real Madrid was rumored to be loaned out in the mid-season transfer market.

“When I decided he was not in the squad, it was because I thought there were other players who deserved it better. On Sunday we had another match. I would decide the same thing,” Emery continued.

“We will choose the 11 best players to reach the winning target on Sunday. They need to adapt to the difficult game against Bournemouth.

At present, Mesut Ozil is one of the highest-paid players at Arsenal.  That reason is believed to hamper the Gunners’ plan to release the player.
