The reason why Cristiano Ronaldo sulked to Erik Ten Hag, revealed

DBasia.news – The big question regarding the reason why Cristiano Ronaldo was furious at Manchester United’s match against Tottenham Hotspur was finally revealed. The Portuguese superstar turned out to have been involved in refusing orders with his manager, Erik ten Hag.

In the match that took place at Old Trafford, Thursday (20/10), Ronaldo suddenly went to the locker room even though the match still had a few minutes remaining. Whereas previously he had warmed up on the sidelines.

This behavior continued after management of Manchester United sanctioned him. Ronaldo has been temporarily suspended from the first team and will not appear in the match against Chelsea, this weekend.

A number of speculations arose regarding Ronaldo’s decision to head first in a match that Manchester United won 2-0. Many thought it was done because they felt annoyed that they were not sent down even though they had warmed up.

This assumption has now been refuted. Ten Hag claimed to have asked Ronaldo to appear as a substitute.

Surprisingly, Ronaldo turned down the order. The moment seemed to have occured ahead of the game entering the 87th minute.

Instead, Ten Hag entered Anthony Elanga to replace Jadon Sancho. Not long after, Ronaldo walked into the locker room.

“Yes, (Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute) so there must be consequences. This is important for the attitude and mentality of the group so I have to set value standards and control them,” Ten Hag said at a press conference ahead of the match against Chelsea.

Ronaldo seemed to feel offended that Ten Hag only wanted to field him before the game was over. This seems to explain that his role is not too important anymore.

Entering players before the game ends is usually done to buy time. However, using Ronaldo, who is considered one of the best footballers of all time, to carry out this strategy is indeed quite surprising.

Unfortunately, Ronaldo responded excessively to it. Ten Hag had no choice but to sanction him in order to keep the locker room situation conducive.

“After [leaving against] Vallecano, I told him it was unacceptable not only for him but everyone. This is the second time (he has done it) so there are consequences.”

“We lose (Ronaldo) tomorrow but it’s important for the attitude and mentality of the group. Now we have to focus on Chelsea because it’s important.”

Despite being sanctioned, Ten Hag promised not to abandon Ronaldo. He plans to re-engage him after the match against Chelsea.

But Ten Hag needed Ronaldo’s commitment to work together again. He certainly did not want this problem to repeat itself in the future.

“Ronaldo remains an important player in the squad. This will be a reflection not only for him (Ronaldo), but also for everyone,” continued Ten Hag.

“Football is a team sport and you have to meet certain standards.”
