The Truth Behind U-23 Iraq Team Withdrawal from 2018 Asian Games

DBasia.news – Iraq Football Association (IFA) released the official statement related to the U-23 national team withdrawal from football of 2018 Asian Games. IFA apologized to the National Olympic Committee of Iraq for the withdrawal.

According to the statement, the resignation from the 2018 Asian Games due to the lack of players. The players in Iraq Premier League aren’t let go by the club. At the same time, the clubs are preparing ahead of the 2018/2019 new season on August 15.

“IFA asked not to participate in the Asian Games in mid-August in Jakarta,” IFA wrote in the official site.

“IFA has declared the Iraqi Olympic Committee and an apology through an official letter on the reason for not participating in the Asian Games.”

“The most important thing is that the club is not willing to take away its players because s Edang is preparing for the Premier League next season. This condition makes us very minimal preparations.”

It means that Group C only consists of four countries, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Timor Leste, and China. Previously, Iraq was in Group C. The issue about the withdrawal was related with age manipulation case.
