The U-23 Iraq Withdrawal, No Need to Redraw

By news-admin

DBasia.news – The surprising news came from the football of 2018 Asian Games. Less than a month before the 2018 Asian Games, the U-23 Iraq national team withdraw from the Asia’s biggest sports event.

The withdrawal was due to problems in Iraq football. Recently, there was an issue about age manipulation after the Baghdad international airport revealed the players have different condition compared to the passport data.

Responding to the withdrawal, INASGOC said there will be no redrawing for football. It means that Group C will only for 3 countries Syria, Timor Leste, and China. Previously there was Iraq there.

“There will be no redrawing,” said the first deputy director, Harry Warganegara to reporters.

The U-23 Iraq team withdrawal completed the problems in the football of 2018 Asian Games. Previously, Palestine and Uni Emirate Arab were protesting because they weren’t listed as the participants.

As a result, the drawing was repeated. But apparently only Palestine and UEA who did the redrawing for their group.
