DBasia.news – Zlatan Ibrahimovic is often seen as a key figure in AC Milan’s revival. This view was shared by his teammate, Theo Hernandez.
Ibrahimovic returned to Milan in January 2020 after traveling to various big European clubs. At that time the Rossoneri were stumbling in Serie A by being ranked eleventh.
But it didn’t take Ibrahimovic long to make a difference. Milan were led to finish in sixth place at the end of the season so they were entitled to compete in the Europa League.
This slick performance continued in the 2020-2021 season. Milan was brought by Ibrahimovic to the top of the standings without being defeated.
Hernandez, who arrived at the San Siro six months earlier, felt the impact of Ibrahimovic’s presence firsthand. The former Real Madrid player even has an interesting story with the striker.
“He gave us courage, gave us a lot of advice and sometimes even scolded us. But he was always there to motivate us,” Hernandez told Sportweek.
“When I came back from vacation, he said where would I go at 90 kilograms because I am a little heavier.
But he also said I was strong and I had to be the best, but I had to work hard.
“Ibrahimovic’s approach has had an immediate impact on Hernandez. He is motivated to do better every day.
Evidently, Hernandez is now one of Stefano Pioli’s key Milan players. His role as a left back is almost irreplaceable.
“We followed him in training to give everything. Everything is always together. It has been an extraordinary year and the credit belongs to everyone,” he added.
Milan is limping without Ibrahimovic
Ibrahimovic had to temporarily step out of the field since early March due to a muscle injury. Without his presence, Il Diavolo Rosso’s performance became less consistent.
Milan’s chances of winning the Scudetto are running low. Currently they are six points behind the leaders, Inter Milan.
It is unknown when Ibrahimovic will return to the field. He is scheduled to undergo further tests in the near future.
