Thiago Alcantara reportedly agreed to head to Liverpool

DBasia.news – After saying goodbye to his team-mates at Bayern Munich, Thiago Alcantara is believed to have agreed to join Liverpool on a five-year contract.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is just one step away from completing the transfer of the Die Roten star who is worth 27 million Pounds, or around 521 billion Rupiah.

According to RMC Sport, as reported by SunSport, Thiago has said farewell to his colleagues at the Bundesliga giants. An unidentified source said the 29-year-old player had even found a place to live in England.

Now, the Reds and Bayern Munich have to talk about the transfer fee for the former Barcelona academy player. For now, Bayern have also stated that Thiago remains a key player for Hansi Flick’s squad.

Even though it was widely reported that he would move to Liverpool, Thiago played the full 90 minutes when Bayern defeated his former club Barcelona 8-2 in the Champions League quarter-finals this weekend.

Thiago himself has defended the Die Roten since he moved from the Blaugrana in 2013. The midfielder who was born in Italy helped Bayern win seven Bundesliga titles and three German Cup trophies. However, even though the coach has persuaded him not to move to Anfield, Thiago insists he wants to continue his career in the Premier League.

“As an individual and as an athlete, I can understand his will. Thiago played for Barcelona, then seven years playing at Bayern, now he wants a new challenge, which in my opinion is definitely in the Premier League, “said coach Hansi Flick to Sport Bild.

Previously it was reported that the Reds at first seemed unlikely to bring in Thiago, until finally the Merseyside club was reportedly just one step away from securing the former Flamengo player.

A number of reports in Germany later reported that Liverpool were ready to offer Thiago an offer, although a few had doubted the reports. Sport Bild also reported Jurgen Klopp’s praise for the 29-year-old midfielder, as his contract agreement with Bayern had reportedly reached a dead end.

Thiago is said to be ready to make a “surprise move”, and the Reds are positioned as one of the club’s goals for the player. Liverpool are reportedly the club most likely to be defended by Thiago next season, if he chooses to leave the Allianz Arena before his contract expires in 2021.
