DBasia.news – Chelsea’s new player Thiago Silva is one of half a dozen new players the Blues have brought in this summer’s transfer market. The Brazilian player joined Stamford Bridge after his contract ended with Paris Saint Germain at the end of last month.
Although PSG manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly asked management to retain Silva, the former AC Milan defender apparently prefers to leave Les Parissien and accept the Blues’ proposal. Silva said that the trust given to him by Chelsea coach Frank Lampard was the reason he joined the Blues.
According to Silva, on the football stage, there are always prejudices about the abilities of players who have entered the twilight of their careers. However, despite turning 36 years old, Silva still earned Lampard’s trust. The former PSG and AC Milan captain then compared himself and Lampard.
When Chelsea released him to Manchester City in 2014, Lampard was 36 years old. However, Lampard proved to be still able to compete at the top level.
“Therefore, without knowing me any deeper, he already knows how hard I work to be at the highest level. Her trust in me convinced me. For me, trust is the most important factor. He believes, I can come to this club and make a positive contribution,” Silva said on the club’s official website, Tuesday (22/9).
Not only that, Silva is quite optimistic, Chelsea can compete in the top flight of the Premiere League and make achievements in the Champions League this season. Silva’s optimism is inseparable from the recruitment of a number of top players by the Blues in the transfer market this summer. Apart from recruiting Silva, Chelsea has also brought in Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, and Malang Sarr.
”We have brought in a number of top European players. Their presence coupled with the composition of the existing players seems to be enough to bring Chelsea to appear competitive this season. This is our target and we are trying to make it happen this season,” concluded the former AC Milan player.
