DBasia.news – Junior Sambia became the first footballer in French Ligue 1 to be infected with the corona virus. The Montpellier midfielder even had an artificial coma.
Former Chamois Niortais player was rushed to hospital on Tuesday (21/04) due to experiencing the corona virus symptoms. The hospital medical team put him in a coma because his condition continued to decline.
Junior Sambia became the first player from Ligue 1 to feel the symptoms of the corona virus. Five days after being hospitalized, Samba’s condition improved. The news was confirmed by official Montpellier website as well as being reported by L’Equipe.
“After digestive and respiratory problems, one of our players (Sambia) has been hospitalized in Montpellier for two days in a special environment to benefit from proper treatment,” a statement from Montpellier said.
Added by Sambia’s agent, Frederic Guerra, his client was already in a stable condition. Previously his condition decreased due to disease complications.
“I met him when he was using an IV. Previously, he was negative Covid-19 and was scheduled to undergo another examination last Wednesday. After that, his lung condition worsened,” Guerra told L’Equipe.
“The complications of the disease he experienced became more when he moved to the hospital. The reason was that he had changed to two hospitals after trying to return to the previous hospital,” Guerra added.
The news from Junior Sambia further adds to questions from the French Players Association (UNFP) regarding the decision of LFP, the Ligue 1 operator to restart training sessions on May 11, 2020. Because the corona virus has not abated at this time.
Guerra believes Sambia was exposed to the corona virus while shopping. “He must have contracted the virus when shopping,” he continued. Until this news was revealed (4/26) there were 161,488 cases of the corona virus in France with a death rate of 22,614 people.
