Thomas Tuchel Values Chelsea Not Favorite EPL Champion

DBasia.news – Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has spoken about his team’s chances of winning the EPL this season. He thinks his team is not the favorite to win this season.

The hunt for the Premier League title in 2021-2022 begins this weekend. Predictions regarding the club that will come out as champions are certainly one of the most awaited things.

Based on a survey conducted to 20 pundits, Manchester City and Chelsea were the most voted out as champions.

Manchester City is still the main seed with 13 pundits chosen. While Chelsea became the choice of seven other observers.

The choice of Manchester City as the favorite to win is a natural thing. The Citizens status as defending champions.

While the election of Chelsea is a surprise. The Blues are considered better than Manchester United and Liverpool who finished above them last season.

This took Tuchel by surprise. The Chelsea manager thinks his team is not the favourite.

“When you finish fourth, you are not favorites next season. We let Liverpool pass us in the last game and have a big gap to get close to Manchester United and Manchester City,” Tuchel said at a press conference ahead of the game against Crystal Palace.

“I look at the transfer market from City and United so I don’t see any reason why they should be worse off than last season. They are improving their squad, they are stable and a very strong team.”

One of the reasons Chelsea are favorites is certainly not separated from their success in winning the Champions League last season. The game of Kai Havertz and his friends is predicted to be more mature this season.

Moreover, Chelsea successfully returned Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge. The arrival of the Belgian striker will make the strength of the London team difficult to contain.

Even so, Tuchel is very careful with this seeded status. He is worried that his team will be burdened and affect their performance on the field.

“We are not afraid to fight for every title we are fighting for, including the tournament (League Cup and FA Cup), Champions League and Premier League. There is no point in breaking our minds about being favorites or not,” he added.

It’s a process that counts and gets better every day. We know very well that you need luck and momentum and then we’ll see.”
