Threatened with a 30 million euros fine, Inter is in a dillema with selling Joao Mario

DBasia.news – Inter Milan reportedly intends to sell Joao Mario to Benfica in the transfer market this summer. However, the Nerazzurri face the threat of a fine of up to 30 million euros.

Inter Milan signed Joao Mario in August 2016 for a fee of 40 million euros. Previously, the Portuguese player played for Sporting CP.

With that amount of money, high expectations are on Joao Mario’s shoulders. Joao Mario is expected to bring Inter back to their winning ways.

However, Joao Mario actually declined. After getting the opportunity for two seasons, Inter chose to loan the player to West Ham in the winter of 2018.

After that, Joao Mario’s days were spent on loan. The 28 year old midfielder was educated at Lokomotiv Moscow and Sporting CP.

Finally, Inter came to a conclusion on the future of Joao Mario. Sporting as the last team to borrow Joao Mario is willing to make the player permanent. The two teams shook hands at 7.5 million euros.

However, after two months had passed, Sporting never closed the deal. Inter also opened up opportunities for other teams to bring in Joao Mario.

The offer came from Benfica. The fans are willing to purchase Joao Mario for 7.5 million euros or around Rp. 128 billion.

Sporting, who heard the news, issued an ultimatum. Sporting reiterated the clause in the deal when they sold Joao Mario to Inter which said there was a fine if the player was sold to another Portuguese club.

According to reports, the fine that must be paid to Sporting if Joao Mario moves to the Portuguese team is 30 million euros or around Rp. 513 billion.

Currently, Inter are trying to find a way out of the problem. Inter are confident that they will not pay the fine to Sporting.
