DBasia.news – Timo Werner limped off the pitch during RB Leipzig’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Leipzig won 4-0 victory over Shakhtar in the Polish Army, with four goals each scored by Christopher Nkunku, Andre Silva, Dominik Szoboszlai and Valerii Bondar’s own goal.
Before being sent off, Werner inspired Leipzig’s lead in the tenth minute by setting up Nkunku’s goal. However, just nine minutes later, he couldn’t continue and was replaced by Emil Forsberg.
Werner knew something was wrong immediately after an attempted pass with his left foot. He gestured to the bench to take him away, and he shook his head as he carefully left.
The World Cup is drawing near, and Werner is expected to play a part for Germany in the tournament. While the extent of his injury is unknown, there are concerns he will not be able to feature.
An update on Werner’s injury will be provided after this match, with the forward likely to undergo a scan in the coming days. Leroy Sane, who occupies a similar position, is also doubted.
