DBasia.news – Tom Heaton’s injury makes Aston Villa move quickly to find additional goalkeepers in the winter transfer market. They also made the choice of the veteran goalkeeper, Pepe Reina.
Reina landed at Villa Park on loan from AC Milan. The 37-year-old man will play for the VIllans until the end of the upcoming 2019-20 season.
Reina herself is no stranger to Premier League fans. The man with the Spanish passport had been Liverpool’s main goalkeeper from 2005 to 2014. This was one of the reasons behind Aston Villa’s decision to land it.
“We managed to land a player who has a wealth of experience playing in the Premier League,” said Aston Villa manager, Dean Smith, as quoted by football5star from The Villans’ official website.
“I think Pepe Reina meets the criteria we want because of the amount of experience she has. In addition, he also has an extraordinary leadership ability,” continued Smith added.
During one and a half seasons playing at AC Milan, Reina really only has the status as a coating of Gianluigi Donnarumma. He also only managed to collect 13 appearances in all competitions with Rossoneri.
Reina’s presence at Villa Park is certainly expected to be able to improve the performance of Jack Grealish cs this season. Because at this time they are still struggling in the relegation zone after only being able to secure 21 points from 22 Premier League parties.
