Tottenham Hotspur Signs New Defender at the End of the Transfer Market

DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur have not stopped spending on players at the end of the transfer market this season. Spurs are reportedly recruiting Swansea City defender Joe Rodon.

The European transfer market has indeed been closed since last October 5. However, Premier League clubs can still carry out transactions with the clubs that inhabit the three divisions below them until August 16th.

This was maximized by a number of Premier League clubs to recruit to complete their squad. Tottenham is one of the transactions on this local transfer deadline.

They are looking for a new center-back to replace Jan Vertonghen who left at the end of last season, after his contract at Tottenham expired. The North London club hooked Swansea defender Joe Rodon about a few hours before the transfer market closes at 17.00 local time.

Rodon was recruited with a tag of 11 million pounds. Tottenham gave him a five-year contract. Tottenham can breathe a sigh of relief to finally have a new center-back.

The reason is, the search for Tottenham in the transfer market then always gets stuck when Inter Milan defender Skriniar fails to find, because the price is too expensive. Meanwhile, Antonio Ruediger was reluctant to be released by Chelsea to fellow rival teams.

Joe Rodon, 22, is a Swansea academy graduate defender who made his professional debut in 2018. At that time Swansea was already in the Championship and the Wales international defender made 54 appearances in all competitions.

Rodon is Tottenham Hotspur’s sixth purchase of the season after Joe Hart, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius.
