DBasia.news – The 20 year old British starlet Jadon Sancho’s performance is on the decline. There is an opinion that this was influenced by his transfer to Manchester United that had not been realized.
Last season Sancho became a ferocious lion with a record of 20 goals and 20 assists in a total of 44 games in all competitions, 17 goals and 17 assists from 32 Bundesliga matches. But this season is different for Sancho.
One goal in eight games and not once has Sancho scored in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund. For quality players, it seems that the record shows a decline in performance.
Whether it’s related to the failure of his transfer to Manchester United or not, Sancho’s form has not returned to its best. As is well known, the Sancho soap opera to MU in the summer of 2020 took a long time.
Dortmund are not willing to sell Sancho for under 100 million euros and United don’t want to fulfill it, especially in the midst of the current corona virus pandemic. Sancho also failed to return to Manchester (Sancho is a product of the Manchester City academy).
Dortmund coach Lucien Favre agrees with the opinion that his failure to move affects Sancho. But Favre also believes that Sancho has only experienced a minor period and can still find his best form again.
“Every player has a slow period. There is a lot of talk about Jadon in the summer, things like that can also have an effect,” said Favre.
“But no player is consistently at his best for a year, that’s not possible. You have to accept that.”
Meanwhile, German football pandit, who is actually ex-Dortmund, Sebastian Kehl assesses that Sancho’s minor performance will not last long. The bad period is believed to be temporary.
“Jadon may not be fluent in his current game. His natural play is only partially recognizable at the moment,” said Kehl to Kicker.
“But this is only a temporary phenomenon, which will soon disappear. This is not a distraction caused by United’s interest. We have to go through this together. Jadon doesn’t care (about speculation). We know that he is working on it.”
Uniquely, when wearing the England national team’s white shirt, Sancho has a big influence on the team by contributing five goals in nine matches in all competitions, recently scoring his third goal for the national team in the international break.
One other factor that is thought to be the reason for Sancho’s declining performance is the departure of Dortmund right-back Achraf Hakimi to Inter Milan. Hakimi’s replacement, Thomas Meunier, has a different style of play.
No doubt Sancho works more hard on the right side of the game and his dribbling skills have improved to a 62 percent success rate. Only goals and assists less than Sancho.
“I feel like every player has had a slight decline in their career, and I feel like I’m going through it right now,” added Sancho.
“This is my way of bouncing back and I’m happy to have a manager who believes and watches over me.”
“I expect a lot from myself. When I play, I try to help and score goals, and help the team. For some games I haven’t helped or scored a goal, but I know I have the opportunity to do it,” he explained.
