DBasia.news – There is still a story after the Champions League last 16-second leg match between Real Madrid against Ajax Amsterdam. Ajax’s third goal was controversial and UEFA explained the goal.
Ajax Amsterdam unexpectedly arrested Real Madrid 4-1 in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League 2018-2019, at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday (5/3). Ajax finally won 5-3 aggregate over Los Blancos.
After the match, there was controversy regarding Ajax Amsterdam’s third goal, which was printed by Dusan Tadic in the 62nd minute. Before the goal, the ball was judged to have left the field and match first.
The referee saw the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) before ratifying the goal. After seeing VAR, the referee remained unmoved by his decision.
UEFA tried to clear the situation around Ajax’s third goal. The European football association said the ball had not left the field completely.
“There is no exclusive evidence that the ball will be completely out of the field from all the video and image angles carefully analyzed by VAR. The assistant referee who is in a perfect position has judged that the whole ball has not fully crossed the field,” explained UEFA.
“Because it does not require a field review. As a result, the referee made the right decision not to intervene and validate the goal,” continued UEFA.
With these results, Real Madrid failed to defend the Champions League title. Meanwhile, Luka Modric and his friends have also been thrown from the Copa del Rey competition.
