DBasia.news – Lazio defenderm Paricio Gabarron Gil or Patric has asked Serie A officials to continue the 2019-2020 competition. The Spanish player claimed he was not afraid to play in the midst of the threat of being infected with the corona virus.
Italy has indeed become one of the countries with the largest number of corona viruses spread in the world. But Patric believes the virus will not harm players in Serie A.
“We are not afraid. With the right prevention, we must return to the field,” Patric told El Chiringuito de Jugones.
Serie A has been suspended since March, due to the effect of the corona virus pandemic. The Italian government implemented a lockdown after a significant spike in the spread of the virus.
Now that the spread of the corona virus has begun to decline, the continuation of Serie A is still in question. Italian football stakeholders have not succeeded in convincing the government to allow the competition to resume.
The Italian government has relaxed the lockdown rules and people have started to slowly continue to their normal activities. But that does not apply to Serie A, even though the players have been allowed to train individually.
“Football is no different from other businesses, we’ve just been home for two months and want to go back to work. If everything returns to normal, why don’t we?” he added.
Lazio has become one of the most passionate clubs to ask for the Serie A to resume. One reason is of course because AS Roma city rivals were competing for the title.
Lazio is now ranked second. They are only one point behind Juventus who top the standings.
Patric doesn’t want his team’s dreams to win the competition to fade because the competition has stopped. The 27-year-old player will not accept if Serie A has the same fate as Ligue 1 and Eredivisie.
“This is a historic moment for Lazio, we are undergoing a fantastic season. They can not determine the champion when the competition is so tight and there are still 12 matches left,” he concluded.
