Van Dijk is called arrogant after making a blunder against Leeds

DBasia.news – Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has criticized Virgil van Dijk. He was criticized for Van Dijk who made a blunder that resulted in a goal against Leeds United.

Liverpool hosted Leeds United in the first week of the 2020/2021 Premier League match. Even though they had to work hard, the Reds were finally able to win.

Four of Liverpool goals were scored by Mohamed Salah (4th minute, 33 ‘, 88’) and Virgil van Dijk (20 ‘). Three of Leeds goals were contributed by Jack Harrison (12 ‘), Patrick Bamford (30’), and Mateusz Klich (66 ‘).

Van Dijk was able to score Liverpool’s second goal with a header. However, the 29-year-old player also caused Leeds to score against the Reds.

Van Dijk failed to control the ball well in the heart of the Liverpool defense. As a result, Patrick Bamford was able to equalize 2-2 in the 30th minute.

The mistake made by Van Dijk has disappointed Carragher. He called the former Southampton defender arrogant towards the Leeds players.

“It was a brilliant match. It could even end with a score of 7-7. Alisson was unhappy. He was among the center-backs there. Virgil van Dijk, he was too arrogant,” Carragher said as quoted by the Daily Mail.

Another Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness was also disappointed with Van Dijk. However, he is relieved that Van Dijk also scored the previous goal.

“Van Dijk is really annoying, but he also scored goals in this match,” added Souness.
