Violating Quarantine Rules, Luka Jovic Threatened to 3 Years in Prison

DBasia.news –  Real Madrid young striker, Luka Jovic is rumored to be undergoing a court session with a violation case in quarantine. Jovid would face a maximum sentence of three years in prison if convicted of violations during quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Although he faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison, Luka Jovic may also only have to pay a fine. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the former Eintracht Frankfurt striker could have only been given the least sentence, a fine of 1,275 euros (around Rp21.7 million).

In March, after the Spanish government imposed a regional quarantine, Luka Jovic decided to return to his country, Serbia. However, he then violated the regional quarantine rules which were also imposed in the country of ex-Yugoslavia.

Jovic claimed he only went to the supermarket to purchase daily necessities. He thinks that quarantine rules in Serbia are the same as in Spain which allows people to go to purchase their daily needs.

“In the country where I came (Spain), and even in Italy, as far as can be seen on the Internet, anyone in quarantine can go out to dispose of garbage once a day, go to the pharmacy or shop,” Luka Jovic said as quoted from Diario AS .

Nevertheless, the striker who had difficulty entering Real Madrid’s first team still admitted his mistake. He stressed his readiness to accept the consequences of his violations.

Previously, Luka Jovic was criticized for deciding to leave Spain when quarantine was imposed. He argued, it was done because his partner was pregnant. Their child will be born in the near future so he needs to be in Belgrade.
