DBasia.news – West Bromwich Albion officially brought in former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in the transfer market this summer. Ivanovic was awarded a one-year contract.

Previously Ivanovic had spent the last three seasons with Russian giants Zenit Saint Petersburg.

The 36-year-old expressed his excitement at returning to the Premiere League, where he played with Chelsea for nine seasons between 2007 and 2017.

“The Premiere League is the best league in the world,” he said as quoted by Goal, Tuesday (15/9).

Ivanovic admitted that he needed to challenge himself. He believes he is ready for the challenge of playing at an age that is no longer young.

Ivanovic admitted that he was very happy to be back playing in the Premier League. He hopes to achieve success at his new club.

“I have a lot of ambition and I want to prove a lot of things. I will give everything for the team,” he said.

Thanks to Slaven Bilic, West Brom succeeded in promotion to the Premiere League when they finished runners-up in the Championship last season, 10 points behind champions Leeds United.

Their first match in England’s top competition ended in a 0-3 defeat to Leicester City, after Jamie Vardy scored twice from the penalty spot.

Bilic expressed optimism about his team’s chances, especially after they got the player with the most appearances in the history of the Serbian national team.

“He’s a great addition to us, a team that was recently promoted in the Premiere League. It fits all of our criteria,” said Bilic.

According to Bilic, Ivanovic has done everything in his extraordinary career. Ivanovic’s presence is expected to add quality and experience to West Brom on and off the pitch.

Ivanovic enjoyed success during his time at Chelsea, winning three Premiere Leagues, one Champions League, one Europa League, three FA Cups, one League Cup and one Community Shield.

At international level, Ivanovic has made 105 appearances for Serbia and played in the 2010 and 2018 World Cups.
