DBasia.news – Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, feels that he is often used as a scapegoat if his team receives disappointing results in matches. No doubt, these conditions has infuriated Ozil until he finally poured out how he felt.
At that moment, whenever Ozil plays, the public always expects him to be the culprit of Arsenal’s bad game. Allegedly Ozil was made a scapegoat as he was rarely played to help the defense team.
In fact, that’s how Ozil plays: as if he doesn’t want to help the team in the defending phase, but Ozil has good vision of playing and passing. This has infact infuriated the player.
“If we don’t play well in big games then it’s always my fault. But if it’s true, then how do you explain some of the bad results in games that I don’t play? It doesn’t make sense,” Ozil said in an interview with The Athletic.
Ozil also stressed that football is played collectively, not individually. So, every time the team plays poorly it happens because of a shared mistake.
“I know people expect me to give better and make a difference. But it’s not that simple. I’m not the only one. I play for the team. Sometimes, the rivals are better than us,” Ozil added.
