DBasia.news – FC Barcelona must sign new players in the winter transfer market deadline. The player would be in the right-back position and a replacement for Hector Bellerin who moved to Sporting Lisbon.
He is a 21-year-old player from Mexico, Julian Araujo, who plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Barcelona reportedly agreed to sign him permanently for 4 million euros and a contract that lasts until 2026.
However, all transfers reportedly failed to occur. There was an interesting incident that thwarted the transfer as reported by Barcelona’s Director of Sport, Mateu Alemany. Failure occured due to a minor mistake.
According to Alemany, there was a delay of 18 seconds which made the document sent delayed due to a problem with the computer. Barcelona submitted the matter to FIFA and are waiting for their decision regarding Araujo’s transfer.
“It didn’t arrive on time because of a computer error, it seems that the system broke for 18 seconds. We have to wait to see what FIFA decides, but there is a little confusion with the goal, which will be the reserve team, not the first team,” said Alemany as quoted from Goal.
“We are fine and the coach is calm. There are already three players leaving namely (Gerard) Pique, Memphis (Depay) and Bellerin which means significant economic savings, and we are prioritizing saving for later and signing up new players, such as Ronald Araujo, Inaki Pena and Marcos Alonso.”
It will be interesting to wait for FIFA’s decision regarding the problem raised by Barcelona. Currently, Xavi Hernandez’s team still has Ronald Araujo and Sergi Roberto for Barcelona’s right-back positions.
