DBasia.news – Most of this year has been spent sitting on the bench, Xherdan Shaqiri said that he is now more fit and is playing better. Shaqiri also hopes to get the chance to play regularly with Liverpool.
Shaqiri underwent his first English Premier League start since January when the Reds won 5-2 over Everton in the Merseyside derby, Wednesday (5/12) AM.
In the second half of last season, Shaqiri was more often marginalized by Jurgen Klopp, with only ten appearances since the new year.
A calf injury suffered by Shaqiri in the beginning of this month has made the Swiss player only play for 25 minutes.
When Klopp rested a number of key players, Shaqiri received a chance to appear and contributed a goal.
“I think for everyone it is good to come back, especially for me when I have been injured for several weeks,” Shaqiri stated.
“I am injured (but) thank God I don’t have knee problems or anything. I have a muscle problem so I need to recover well in a few weeks.”
“I worked hard in training. Everyone knows this is a busy period with lots of matches going forward, so I’m thrilled to be back. I feel fit, fine, and I think you see it.”
“I’m ready. I think the coach also sees
in training. I trained well and he gave me a chance, and I think I played
great.”
