Wout Weghorst’s explanation in touching Liverpool’s logo

DBasia.news – The news regarding the Red Devils’ 0-7 defeat to the Reds, their eternal rival, is still being discussed today. Many incidents were highlighted and one of them was Wout Weghorst, a Manchester United player.

Apart from the many camera glares that captured the actions of Bruno Fernandes and Antony which were considered unprofessional, Weghorst was also in the spotlight. The Dutch striker, before entering the pitch at Anfield, touched the Liverpool logo in the tunnel.

It should be a tradition for Liverpool players and therefore Weghorst’s actions has been questioned, especially from Man United fans. An old quote from the striker from Burnley has also surfaced regarding his love for Liverpool.

Including the story of his dream of playing in Liverpool and how much he got goosebumps from the Liverpool song, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. Not wanting the news to spread to the public, Weghorst gave out a statement.

The reason Weghorst touched the Liverpool logo at Anfield was to mock his compatriot at Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk. He also emphasized that currently he is proud to be a Man United player and is ready to dedicate himself to the club.

“Normally I never react to media topics, but for this one, it’s invaluable because United fans are incredibly important to me. So I just wanted to clarify the video that’s been circulating,” Weghorst said on Instagram.

“From the national team, I know that Virgil is always touching it and I tried to stop him before the game.”

“As a child I always supported FC Twente, and as a proud player now for Manchester United, my dedication to this amazing club will never be questioned.”

“Sunday was a bad day for all of us. We are putting everything in place to make things right in the coming weeks. We will bounce back together and achieve our goals for the season!” Weghorst insisted.
