DBasia.news – Al-Sadd SC coach, Xavi Hernandez, gave his comments after continuing to be linked with becoming the new coach of Barcelona. Xavi indicated that he is opened to returning to his former team.
After leaving Barcelona in 2015, Xavi headed to Al-Sadd as a player. The Spaniard then decided to retire in 2019 and immediately took up the position of coach until now.
Xavi’s actions as a tactician were also included in Barcelona’s radar. Moreover, Barca are reportedly looking for a new coach after Ronald Koeman’s appearance was deemed unsatisfactory.
In the last six matches, Barcelona have only won once. The other five matches ended with three defeats and two draws. Not surprisingly, Barca occupy a distended position in the Champions League group stage and are in the middle of LaLiga.
The signal for Koeman’s departure strengthened after the coach’s relationship with Joan Laporta reportedly deteriorated. Although, recently Laporta issued a statement that Koeman would still occupy the position of coach.
However, Koeman’s future remains in question. Moreover, Koeman’s contract will expire in the summer of 2022.
Not surprisingly, a number of coaches has began to be linked with managing Pedri and his team mates. Of a number of names circulating, Xavi became one of the strongest. Moreover, Xavi is considered to already know and understand the philosophy of Barcelona.
In response to the news, Xavi indicated that he did not mind coaching Barca. Currently, he is still under contract until 2023.
“Every offer that comes will be assessed and decided,” Xavi told TVE about the current rumors.
“I do not know what will happen in the future. However, I am open to all possibilities,” added the legend.
Besides Xavi, Barcelona are reportedly also targeting the coach of the Belgian national team, Roberto Martinez. However, bringing in Martinez is predicted to be more challenging than Xavi.
