Xavi wants to sign more players

DBasia.news – Xavi stated that Barcelona still need to strengthen their squad after opening LaLiga, with a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou.

Barca spent excessively this summer in the midst of the financial crisis and immediately fielded four new signings namely Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Andreas Christensen as starters, while Franck Kessie played in the second half.

After playing their best squad, the Blaugrana in the end had to face a disappointing result.

“I already said we have to keep strengthening [the squad] and we have until August 31 [when the transfer window closes],” Xavi told his post-match press conference.

“But I don’t want to use that as an excuse [for the result versus Rayo]. I understand the disappointment, the expectations are very high. We have to analyze the game, improve it and keep believing in the game model.”

“Rayo defended well. It was more difficult for us to create [chances] than usual. It’s a shame because we want to show the fans that we are on a good path. It’s disappointing, but we ask for patience.”

Barcelona’s steps in the transfer market this time are increasingly limited by the financial crisis they are experiencing, so that previously they were threatened with not being able to register new players.

Of all the new signings, Jules Kunde will not be able to register for La Liga this season until Barca have more room in the salary limit.

They were also only able to register new players a few hours before the start of the La Liga season, having sold 24.5% of Barca Studios bringing the total raised from the sale of assets this summer to over 700 million euros.

Reportedly, Barcelona will not stop bringing in players, they still want Marcos Alonso from Chelsea, Manchester City star Bernardo Silva and an additional right-back.
