Zinedine Zidane Upset with Real Madrid’s Performance Against Rayo

DBasia.news –  A penalty goal from Adri Embarba, Rayo Vallecano’s player, gave a 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the LaLiga match on Monday (29/4) WIB.

Los Blancos lost their 10th defeat in Spain 2018-19 and Zinedine Zidane, Madrid coach, was very disappointed with the defeat suffered by his team against the team who were fighting out of the relegation zone.

Playing without a top score, Karim Benzema, due to injury, Madrid lost the sharpness on the front lines against a team that has conceded 62 goals this season. 52 percent of the possession of Madrid’s ball only produced nine attempted kicks and three kicks on target.

Madrid lost efficiently with Rayo, who controlled possession by 48 percent, but released five shots on target and 11 attempted kicks to Madrid keeper, Thibaut Courtois.

What made Zidane most disappointed is that Madrid seemed to have done nothing to score a goal and did not show the strong character that should be shown by a team in Los Blancos’ caliber.

“We did nothing. There was nothing at any level. Sometimes you could fail to score, but we did nothing. I was angry because the team’s performance was bad and I was responsible,” Zidane said with emotion, quoted from Marca.

“Everything was very bad. Characters played and matches. We didn’t give anything. Not when dueling for the ball, running, anything. Rayo played well, but we did nothing.”

I was so upset with the performance of the players he had sent down against Rayo, for example: Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Dani Carvajal, Zidane could no longer defend the players.

“I (usually) always defend my players, but not today. We can’t play like that, but I am also responsible (for Madrid’s poor performance),” he concluded.

Real Madrid does not have a specific target anymore as there are no trophies being chased near the end of the season. However, that poor performance certainly cannot be tolerated by Zidane who is currently selecting the squad to face the 2019-20 season.
