5 Reasons for RB Leipzig as a Candidate for the 2019-20 Bundesliga Champion

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  RB Leipzig has several positive capitals to become the dark horse of the 2019-20 Bundesliga title hunt while ending the dominance of Bayern Munich.

Die Roten Bullen – Leipzig’s nickname – to the top of the table after a 3-0 win against Fortuna Dusseldorf at Esprit Arena on Sunday (12/15) through goals scored by Patrik Schick (2′), Timo Werner (penalty 58′), and Nordi Mukiele (75′).

While in other matches, Gladbach lost 1-2 at Wolfsburg headquarters through goals scored by Xaver Schlager (13′) and Maximilian Arnold (90 + 1′) who were reduced by Breel Embolo (15′).

Leipzig has enough capital or stock to end the dominance of Bayern Munich who won the Bundesliga in the last seven seasons. Kidnapped from the official website of the Bundesliga, here are the five factors or reasons that can make Leipzig the 2019-20 Bundesliga champion:

1. Strong Defense

A strong defense wins the league title. The old term is still effective today. Without a strong defense, it is almost impossible for teams to become champions in their respective league. Leipzig has gone through this defense test.

Leipzig only conceded 16 goals in 15 Bundesliga matches and became the second-best defense inspector after Wolfsburg (conceding 15 goals). The key to that greatness can’t be separated from players like Peter Gulasci, Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konate, Luke Klostermann, and Marcel Halstenberg.

Even coatings such as Stefan Ilsanker, a 30-year-old central defender, also contributed greatly to the strength of the team’s defense if Upamecano or Konate were injured. Gulasci, last season recorded 16 clean sheets in 33 Bundesliga matches, Leipzig overall conceded 29 goals from 34 matches last season.

Without significant changes in the back line, the team play will be more unified and their cooperation will be even better.

2. Depth of the Squad

Ethan Ampadu, Patrik Schick, Ademola Lookman, Philipp Tschauner, Hannes Wolf, Christopher Nkunku, and Luan Candido, were the seven newer players who came to Leipzig this season – the first two names on loan.

They all gave the squad a better depth for the already strong Leipzig team. Nkunku even immediately secured his place in the regular Nagelsmann lineup. His speed and instinct to score from the second line are key to Leipzig’s greatness.

As they participate in the Champions League, Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, good depth of squad allows rotation to be maintained well.

3. Sharp Scoring a Goal

Goals can come from various directions in Leipzig. 12 different scorers are proof this season. In addition, the sharpness of Yussuf Poulsen and Timo Werner increasingly complement the ferocity of Leipzig in scoring matters.

Leipzig became the steepest team in the Bundesliga with a record of 42 goals in 15 matches. Werner, the German national team striker, is under Robert Lewandowski (18 goals) in the top scorer list while the Bundesliga with a record 16 goals.

The movement and supply of the ball to the attacker come from various directions. Besides relying on the vision of playing Emil Forsberg and Nkunku, two Leipzig full-backs, Klostermann and Halstenberg, also often go up to help attack and release crosses. Strong defense and sharp attacks are clearly enough capital for Leipzig to try to win the Bundesliga title.

4. Julian Nagelsmann

“I believe we will have a good season. I don’t know if it will be enough or not to win the title. With Klopp (Jurgen Klopp) it takes three years (to win the Bundesliga) with (Borussia) Dortmund and Liverpool,” Nagelsmann told the Bundesliga.

“We will all be happy if we can win something in three years. We certainly do not mind achieving it immediately, but four years is also no problem. It would be great if we were able to achieve it. That is our goal.”

Nagelsmann came in with a good CV for three years gush Hoffenheim. Being the youngest manager in Bundesliga history when he hired Hoffenheim at the age of 28, Nagelsmann also brought the club to safety from the relegation zone and competed at the top of the table.

Hoffenheim also brought to participate for the first time in the Champions League. At the age of 32, Nagelsmann was rich in experience. With his great ideas in compiling the game, Leipzig could bring the Bundesliga champions.

5. It’s Near the Bundesliga Title

Whether we realize it or not, Leipzig had already shown their threat since last season and moved under the radar of competition Bayern and Dortmund. Last season, Leipzig lost only six times in league matches.

This season, Leipzig’s journey has improved with 10 wins, three draws, and two defeats. Their path to becoming Bundesliga champions is open, especially as Dortmund and Bayern Munich are inconsistent playing this season.
