RB Leipzig is still holding up without Timo Werner

By db-admin

DBasia.news – RB Leipzig manager, Julian Nagelsmann believes his team’s chances in the Champions League will not decrease just because they are now without a sharp attacker, Timo Werner. As is known, Werner has left for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Leipzig will only restart the struggle in the Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, Lisbon, Portugal, Friday (14/12) AM.

“It has been discussed many times, but Timo is not here. However, that does not mean we have to play with 10 players. We have many players in midfield and up front to score goals,” said Nagelsmann.

In fact, according to Nagelsmann, Werner’s departure opens the door of opportunities for other players who has had difficulty and has not had many opportunities to show their abilities.

“We have a few players who has had less playing time because of Timo and those under his shadow are now able to take over the responsibilities,” he added.

The optimism of Nagelsmann is also supported by the main goalkeeper of Leipzig, Peter Gulacsi, who thinks that his team will still have sharpness up front, even though Werner is no longer supported by Werner who scored 95 goals in 159 games during four seasons to strengthen Die Roten Bulen.

“Our squad has extraordinary quality. With the departure of Timo Werner, several players have now had the opportunity to show more of their abilities,” Gulacsi stated as quoted by the official Leipzig website. “That’s why I believe we will still be able to spread threats in front of goal in the future,” added the former Liverpool goalkeeper.

The achievement of the Champions League quarter-finals has set a new stage for Leipzig, a club that is only a decade old. If they are able to get past Atletico, Leipzig will be waiting for another quarter-final winner between Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals.
