A different Promotion and Degradation System in Bundesliga

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The 2019-20 Bundesliga will resume this weekend after being postponed due to corona virus.

The play of the Bundesliga will be an example for other European leagues to see how the competition resumes in the midst of a corona virus pandemic. The Bundesliga has nine matches left, while Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen have 10.

One interesting note from the Bundesliga is the relegation system and promotion of team 2. Bundesliga or the second division of German football. Bundesliga contestants consist of 18 teams and the bottom three teams has suffered a different fate.

Final ranking 17th and 18th will immediately relegate to 2. Bundesliga and team in one-two order 2. Bundesliga promotion to the first team next season. What about rank 16? They will fight third place 2. Bundesliga in a home and away play-off system.

The Bundesliga team will host first leg and second leg of the 2. If the goal aggregate is equal after two legs then the away goal aggressiveness will be calculated later.

If the scores are still the same then there will be an extension of time and a shootout to determine the winner: promotion for team 2 and stay in the Bundesliga for the team who has won it.

Given the current position in the Bundesliga, Fortuna Dusseldorf will play a play-off as they are 16th with 22 points, while Bremen (18 points) and Paderborn (16 points) are automatically relegated because they are in the bottom two.

While in 2. Bundesliga of the 18th 16 are Arminia Bielefeld (51 points), Stuttgart (45 points), and Hamburg (44 points). If the season ends like that then Hamburg will fight Dusseldorf in the play-off match while Bielefeld and Stuttgart are promoted.

Nevertheless the season is not over and all possibilities can still occur in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga standings.
