Absent in Atletico Madrid’s important match, Trippier Blames Tottenham

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Kieran Trippier admitted he had a lot of problems last season at Tottenham and blamed his former club for making him miss several important Atletico Madrid games this season.

The 29-year-old player, who joined Los Rojiblancos last summer with a dowry of 20 million pounds (about Rp. 340 billion), left Spurs after struggling with injuries and recovering his performance, leaving him with no place in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

The English international defender revealed that he had been struggling for months with groin and pelvic injuries he suffered, but when he asked for surgery, he accused the north London club of not agreeing to his time.

Until in the end Trippier underwent surgery during the Spanish league competition in the winter break meaning he had to be absent in the first leg of the UCL top 16 round.

Liverpool and the defender claimed to be frustrated with the decision of the former club for not undergoing surgery earlier.

“I really feel I am a better player than at Tottenham last season,” Trippier said via The Sunday Mirror.

“Last season was a difficult moment because I had to fight against injuries, it was not an excuse because I did not hide it at all, but I struggled for months with a groin and pelvic injury and I only had surgery during the winter break in Spain.

“As the time off and the surgery I was undergoing only made me absent for a few weeks and now I feel better. I could have done it last season at Spurs but they didn’t allow me to do it at the time.

“I had a lot of problems there last season regarding my performance and injury, I was supposed to have surgery last season, but there are a lot of important matches so I don’t want to mess it up.”
