AC Milan coach uncovers Daniel Maldini’s weaknesses

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Daniel Maldini immediately scored goals in the Italian Serie A when he first started at AC Milan. Coach Stefano Pioli after the match gave his opinion on Maldini’s shortcomings.

Milan travelled to Spezia’s headquarters in Alberto Picco, Saturday (25/9/2021) evening, WIB. Pioli in this match played Maldini as a starter after in the previous 14 matches in the Italian League only came on as a substitute.

The son of Milan legend, Paolo Maldini, scored with a header in the 48th minute to put the Rossoneri in front. Maldini was then withdrawn in the 58th minute to be replaced by Ismael Bennacer.

Spezia managed to equalize the score in the 80th minute through Daniele Verde. Brahim Diaz locked Milan’s 2-1 victory through a goal in the 86th minute.

“The most important thing about Daniel is having talent. He has technique, good vision of the game, but needs to be quicker and more intensive in getting out of control. (Mehdi) Bourabia keeps him close and all he needs is a few more meters to get away from his keeper and open up those spaces,” Pioli told DAZN.

“His first start was against Rio Ave (Europa League) a year ago playing as False 9, so this is really his first start. He has the quality to make an impact in the future and can get even better.”

Pioli also praised the mentality of the Milan players. Although the squad is quite young, the players appear full of confidence.

“It’s a big win, because we played well, but not very well, and getting the result still shows mental strength,” Pioli revealed.

“This is a young squad, but they believe in themselves, in the team and in our approach to football. We mustn’t lose our humility, but it’s only natural that they feel capable of handling certain pressures and winning any game.”

“Pressure and expectations have increased around us this season, but we showed that we can handle it.”
