DBasia.news – Emmanuel Adebayor doesn’t want to retire as a soccer player. The Togo striker has just begun his new adventure in the Paraguayan League with Olimpia.
Adebayor last played for Turkish club Kayserispor last year, scoring only two goals in eight matches. He then left the club in December.
Two months without a club, Adebayor finally decided to accept the proposal of Olimpia who is the champion of the Paraguayan League. Olimpia also made Adebayor’s introduction in a unique way, asking for 20,000 new members of the club community before the announcement.
After reaching 14,922 new members in the club community, Olimpia also announced Adebayor as a new player. Adebayor contracted a year and will duet with his former teammate in Manchester City, Roque Santa Cruz.
Olimpia will be the club’s 10th player 35 years after Metz, Monaco, Arsenal, City, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, Istanbul Basaksehir and Kayserispor.
Adebayor is not the last star to play in the Paraguayan league. Because, the agent who brought Adebayor moved to Olimpia, Rodrigo Codas, said Yaya Toure would follow. He is likely to join Libertad who is a rival Olympian.
Yaya, who last played in the Chinese League Division Two Qingdao Huanghai, is thinking of moving because of a coronavirus case.
“I’m a little enthusiastic about Yaya. He wants to play in South America. He is good friends with Adebayor, the same as Roque or Carlos Tevez in South America. I think Yaya will move, if everything goes well, he will go to Brazil,” Codas said.
