Adebayor Refuses to Donate to Fight Corona Virus
By db-admin
DBasia.news – A surprising decision was made by Emmanuel Adebayor during the corona virus pandemic. The former Manchester City striker admitted he was reluctant to donate to help his country to deal with this virus.
Adebayor manly acknowledged that. He did not care even though he was considered to lack empathy.
“For all of you who say I didn’t contribute, let everything be clear. I didn’t contribute, as simple as that,” Adebayor said as quoted from the US.
The decision taken by Adebayor is indeed quite surprising as the world football players are competing to donate money to help the victims and medical staff. Moreover, Adebayor is still an active player who is now competing in Paraguay with Olimpia Asuncion.
Adebayor’s attitude was even compared to football legends from the African continent, Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o. Both have donated to help their country fight the corona virus.
Drogba donated his private hospital in Ivory Coast to treat victims of the corona virus. While Eto’o helped ease the burden on the Cameroon government by contributing to 100,000 residents in four cities.
But that has made Adebayor unmoved. He feels there is no need to follow what others are doing.
“I am not them (Drogba, Eto’o), I am Emanuel Sheyi Adebayor. I will always do what I want,” he added.
The decision taken by Adebayor is reasonable if we observe the corona virus case that occurs in his country, Togo. There, the number of positive cases is still relatively small, amounting to 88 and has only killed six people.
