After the Injury, Andre Gomes Has the Chance to Play Again in This Season

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Everton midfielder Andre Gomes still has a chance to return to action in the 2019-2020 season after undergoing ankle dislocation surgery. He is also expected to return to the competition before the current season ends.

Gomes suffered a right ankle dislocation in the match against Tottenham Hotspur which ended in a draw, following a tackle from Son Heung-min and he had to be stretchered off the field.

The Portugal international has had a successful operation on Tuesday and, despite the severity of the injury, club officials are optimistic he will return this season.

“It’s not easy to give a definite date on when he will return but the feedback from the medical staff is maybe we will see him playing again this season,” manager Marco Silva said ahead of the match with Southampton this weekend.

“This looks like a really serious injury, but things are going very well and we hope we can see him playing again this season. Of course, we are not sure.”

The incident at Goodison Park shocked several players, especially Jon, who Silva acknowledged had been communicating with Gomes.

“I think he received a message from Son. Of course, this is the hardest moment for Andre and the other players on the field. For the two players involved this is really tough. The most important thing is to give Andre all the support he needs right now.”
