Ajax Fail to Handle Heart Attack Suffered Player
By db-admin
DBasia.news – We still remember how Dutch young striker, Abdelhak Nouri (21), forced to retire due to serious condition during pre-season versus Weder Bremen.
The Ajax Amsterdam alumni fell unconscious during a match with Bremen in July 2017. Nouri was handled with emergency care by Ajax medical staff before rushed to the hospital. After examination, Nouri had serious and permanent brain damage.
Nouri was collapsed due to a heart attack. After that incident, Nouri couldn’t play and chase his dream as a professional football player. A year passed by, Ajax felt responsible for him.
Edwin van der Sar, Ajax general manager, admitted that Ajax was late in handling Nouri. If only Ajax could give him emergency treatment, he is probably still playing until now.
“We recognize our responsibility and liability for the consequences of this. For a long time, we were convinced that Abdelhak had received the best possible care on the field,” Van der Sar told Independent.
“Had this happened, it’s possible that Abdelhak would have come out in a better condition. This isn’t certain, but it’s a possibility.”
Ajax learned a lot from that incident, prevent it to occur in the future. Nouri is one of the Ajax academy’s products, known all over the world. This Moroccan player performed 15 times in Ajax senior teams during 2016/17 season.
