Arteta’s persuasion to Aubameyang: Stay and be a Legend

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Mikel Arteta has began to speak more often in an effort to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal. After winning the 2020 FA Cup, now the focus of the Gunners is to maintain their best striker.

The importance of Aubameyang is not to be denied. He scored two goals in the win over Manchester City (2-0) in the semifinals, and scored two more goals to defeat Chelsea in the final party (2-1).

In total, Auba has wrapped 70 goals in all competitions since joining Arsenal in January 2018. Therefore, this new contract problem shows the poor management of the Gunners.

Now Aubameyang is entering the last year of his contract, which could be a disaster if he does not immediately sign a new contract.

Reportedly, Aubameyang’s new contract negotiations are stuck due to salary issues, Arsenal is still unable to approve the striker’s salary increase request.

Now, despite that problem, Arteta believes Aubameyang has everything to become a new Arsenal legend, as did Ian Wright or Thierry Henry.

“[Goal] is the most difficult thing in football, it’s clear, and he makes it look easy, just look at his second goal,” said Arteta on Arsenal’s official website.

“This club always has great strikers and Auba deserves to be called and compared to the best names. By winning the trophy, he will approach their level, also with the longer he stays here.”

“Hopefully we can keep him longer,” he added.

Furthermore, Arteta also praised Aubameyang’s hard work as a captain. Arteta arrived at Arsenal with a higher standard and coaching style, and Auba could lead his team-mates to adapt.

“Perhaps one of his biggest problems is to convince Aubameyang to work as he has done so far [captain],” continued Arteta.

“He will indeed be more valued, more respectful, and from that respect turns into admiration, whether from his colleagues, from people who work with him, and from fans.”

“Now, with his attitude on and off the field, I think he already understands his role,” he concluded.
