DBasia.news – The hopes of the Italian Serie A club, AS Roma to secure Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling will soon be realized.
AS Roma borrowed Chris Smalling from AS Roma in the summer transfer market in 2019. Smalling became Kostas Manolas’s successor who crossed into Napoli.
Chris Smalling made Rome a place to prove his ability. Having become a scapegoat at Manchester United, Smalling actually appeared tough in the back line of Rome.
So far, the British player has appeared in 32 matches in various events. He contributed with two goals plus one assist.
In the initial agreement with Manchester United, Roma did not have a ransom clause. However, because they already fell in love, Roma made an effort to bring in the defender.
Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira reported that an agreement between Manchester United and AS Roma is almost reached. Rome’s sporting director, Franco Baldini, was speaking with representatives of the Red Devils to find a common ground.
Giallorossi plans to increase Smalling’s loan period by one more season at an additional cost of 3 million euros (until 2021). Rome will also include a mandatory redemption clause of 15 million euros.
Meanwhile, Chris Smalling agreed with the contract proposed by Rome. He will be part of Rome until June 2024 with a salary of 3 million euros per year.
Chris Smalling’s sales will be very useful for Manchester United. These funds can be used to find a duet partner for Harry Maguire.
