DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak managed to set a new record when he and the team defeated Osasuna 5-0 in LaLiga on Thursday (6/18). The Slovenian goalkeeper managed to record 100 clean sheets in the history of La Liga.
Reporting from Marca, the 27-year-old goalkeeper managed to break the record of 100 clean sheets in 182 matches, beating Miguel Reina’s previous record which took 222 matches to reach the same number.
Victor Valdes is third with 227 matches during in Barcelona’s uniform. As a percentage, Oblak set the record in 55 percent of his total appearances.
Oblak’s record is even considered to exceed the statistics that have been achieved by legendary La Liga goalkeepers in terms of percentage. Andoni Zubizaretta recorded 235 clean sheets in 622 appearances (37 percent), Paco Buyo recorded 213 clean sheets in 542 matches, and then Iker Casillas kept 177 clean sheets in 510 matches.
“I feel good since I stopped competing in three months,” Oblak said as quoted by Goal, Thursday (6/18).
“To be honest, I don’t pay too much attention to the statistics. I hear what people say. It’s nice to see that number but I hope that’s not all that I have achieved,” he concluded.
