Atletico Madrid Questioned About VAR Implementation

Atletico Madrid
DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid are questioning the implementation of video assistance referee (VAR) in Spanish LaLiga. They asked the referee consideration in deciding whether an incident could use the technology.
Atletico felt disadvantaged in the derby match against Real Madrid last weekend resulted in a 0-0 score.
Atletico felt humiliated because, in that match, Madrid player Casemiro touched the ball with his hand in the penalty box. But the referee didn’t consider it as a foul, even didn’t ask for the VAR implementation.
“After observing the different use and consultation that has been made of the VAR in similar plays in several matches during this day, Atletico Madrid will request this Monday a clarification to the Technical Committee of Referees on this type of situation,” said Atletico statement.
Atletico admitted the confusion of the criteria to utilize the VAR. In another match, the similar case also happened, and the player might ask the referee to review the VAR before deciding.
“We believe this clarification is very convenient to facilitate the work of the professionals and avoid the confusion of the fans.”
