Barcelona and Manchester City Ready to Exchange Players
By db-admin
DBasia.news – La Liga giant club, Barcelona, reportedly ready to release Nelson Semedo to Manchester City in the transfer market next summer. As a substitute for Semedo, Blaugrana will get Joao Cancelo.
Famous media from Spain, Diario Sport, reported that Semedo became one of the main targets of Manchester City in the upcoming transfer market. Not only that, Diario Sport also reported that Semedo has been targeted by The Cityzens since 2019.
Last year, Barcelona rejected Manchester City’s approach to Nelson Semedo. However, the financial crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic caused the Blaugrana to change their mind.
Semedo was ready to be sold to help balance the Blaugrana’s financial sheet. Initially, Barcelona only wanted to release Semedo to Man City if they got an offer of 45 million Euros.
However, that number was unable to be met by The Cityzens. This also made Man City enter Joao Cancelo’s name into the negotiations to bring in Semedo. Reportedly, the two clubs will reach an agreement in the near future regarding the transfer of Semedo and Cancelo.
Joao Cancelo himself is ready to be released by Man City after failing to show his best performance throughout the 2019-20 season. In addition, Cancelo also had difficulty penetrating the Cityzens first team and was only able to made 11 appearances in the Premiere League.
Cancelo was brought in by Man City from Juventus last summer. Cancelo landed at the Etihad Stadium as part of Danilo’s sale to Juventus.
