Bayern Munchen Wins European Super Cup through Overtime

Munich’s efforts finally paid off in the 34th minute. Lewandowski, who acted as a wall in the penalty box, gave Leon Goretzka a well-made pass which was finished with a hard shot.

After the draw, Munich became more excited to score additional goals. While Sevilla was forced to defend a lot and rely on counter attacks.

A number of opportunities could be created by Munich. However, until the first half, the score was 1-1.

The game in the second half was not much different. Munich still controlled the match even though Sevilla also tried to steal a goal.

Lewandowski had time to bring Munich back ahead in the 51st minute. However, the goal was disallowed by VAR because the Polish striker was caught in an offside position.

At the end of the second half, Sevilla came close to scoring the winner when substitute Youssef En-Nesyri faced Neuer one-on-one. Unfortunately the Moroccan national player was not calm so that the golden opportunity was wasted.

Finally, 1-1 score lasted until normal time ended. An extra round of time must also be done to determine the winner.

In this round, Munich’s hard work finally paid off. Javi Martinez, who had just been played, scored the winner in the 104th minute.

The Spanish national broke into Yassine Bounou with a header. he took advantage of the chaos in the Sevilla penalty box.

The 2-1 score for the Munich victory lasted until the game was over. Hansi Flick’s team is entitled to win the second European Super Cup trophy in the club’s history.
