Bayern Munich Coach Hansi Flick Gives Answers about Thiago Alcantara’s Future

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick jokingly said Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara had committed to the Bavarian giants after helping beat PSG in the Champions League final on Monday (24/8).

Thiago started last night as a starter as Bayern won their sixth Champions League title, with Kingsley Coman scoring the only goal to beat his former club.

The future of Spain international Thiago has been subject to speculation in recent months and while Liverpool are believed to be at the forefront of his pursuit, Arsenal are also suspected of being interested in the playmaker.

When asked where Thiago would play next season, Flick jokingly said the 29-year-old had decided to stay at Bayern – but insisted that clarity would soon be available.

“He [Thiago] told me he wanted to stay [at Bayern],” joked Flick after the match.

“I just say thanks to him. I don’t know [where his future is], he doesn’t know either.”

“We’ll have to wait and see about what happens in the next few days.”

Given that Thiago is entering the final year of his contract with Bayern, his price is now estimated at just 30 million euros – while the coronavirus pandemic has also played a role in his price decline.

Former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has revealed that Thiago’s skills will be a great addition to the club in the Premier League.

He also looked back on how the former Barca came close to securing a transfer to Old Trafford seven years ago and now he hopes he doesn’t move to Anfield.

“He almost came to United in 2013 and now Liverpool are linked with him. He is one of the best midfielders in the world – I just hope he doesn’t go there [Liverpool]!” Rooney told The Sunday Times.

“He can carry the ball, is very calm, makes a tight game. He’s a complete midfielder, really, because he’s got everything. He relieved Bayern’s pressure and he came down between central defenders to pick up the ball but he can also join in when they play the ball in another box.”

“He is a great player. It will be nice to see him play in the Premier League. “
