Belgium’s Perfect Record Continues

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  The Hazard brothers, Eden and Thorgan, led Belgium to continue the perfect record in the 2020 European Cup qualifying phase in Group I by beating hosts Russia 4-1 at Saint Petersburg Stadium.

His younger brother, Thorgan opened up Belgium’s lead before Eden’s two goals were completed by Romelu Lukaku, while Russia could only retaliate through Georgiy Dzhikiya’s single goal.

The result was the ninth victory in nine 2020 European Cup qualifying matches that have been undertaken by Roberto Martinez’s team.

Belgium, who are now firmly on top of Group I with 27 points, are just one game away to close the qualifying phase with a sweeping record of victory.

Thorgan opened Belgium’s advantage when the game ran for 19 minutes after utilizing feedback from his brother.

In the 33rd minute, it was his brother’s turn to score with a right-footed shot to send the ball past Lukaku using a header.

Russia tried to retaliate but Magomed Ozdoev’s long-range shot was saved by goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, and five minutes before halftime Belgium actually increased the advantage to 3-0 thanks to Eden’s second goal.

Lukaku scored Belgium’s fourth goal in the 72nd minute with a shot from outside the box completing Kevin de Bruyne’s pass.

Seven minutes later, Russia reduced the gap to 1-4.
