Borussia Moenchengladbach Manager Rates Draw Results against Inter Milan Was Fair
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Borussia Moenchengladbach manager Marco Rose felt a 2-2 draw with Inter in the Champions League Group B opener on Thursday (22/10), was fair enough. Gladbach left the Giuseppe Meazza without regrets.
Inter’s match against Gladbach in the Champions League Group B opener was dramatic. Inter took the lead through Romelu Lukaku early in the second half, but then fell behind through Ramy Bensebaini’s penalty and Jonas Hofmann’s counter-attack. Lukaku became Inter’s savior from defeat through his goal in the 90th minute.
“I think the result is fair considering what we see on the field,” said Rose in his press conference quoted by Football Italia.
He admitted that his team did not develop the best game. But overall, Gladbach took full advantage of scoring opportunities.
“It was difficult playing at the San Siro, because even without fans, we were still influenced by the stadium atmosphere. We respected Inter too much in the first half,” he said.
Rose said his team didn’t have many opportunities in the Inter penalty box. But the last half hour really determines the final result of the game.
“I would happily draw here, but given how the game went, it’s a shame we didn’t do any better with their equalizer,” he added.
The chance for the team to qualify from this group is wide open, because Real Madrid suffered a shock 2-3 defeat at home to Shakhtar Donetsk. According to Rose, it shows they have to focus from one game to another.
“Real Madrid will be excited and angry, while we receive positive things from our game in Milan. After years of being eliminated in the Champions League, it is inevitable that we will be a little naive at first. But we bring a lot of enthusiasm to this competition,” concluded Rose.
