DBasia.news – The Italian national team recorded a record of goals in a big win over the Armenian national team in the 2020 Euro qualification continued. Ten goals were created in the Euro 2020 qualification match between Italy vs Armenia at the Renzo Barbera Stadium, Monday (11/18/2019) or Tuesday morning Western Indonesian Time.
Playing at Renzo Barbera, Tuesday (11/19) early morning Western Indonesian Time, Italy won with a score of 9-1 through goals scored by Ciro Immobile (8 ‘, 33’), Nicolo Zaniolo (9 ‘, 64’), and one goal from Nicolo Barella (29 ‘), Alessio Romagnoli (72’), Jorginho (75 ‘penalty), Riccardo Orsolini (77’), and Federico Chiesa (81 ‘). One Armenian consolation goal was scored by Edgar Babayan (79 ‘).
Italy, who qualified with Finland for the 2020 European Cup, sat comfortably at the top of Group J with a clean sweep of 10 wins (never losing and drawing), scoring 37 goals, conceding four goals, and 33 goal difference.
According to records from Football-Italy, Gli Azzurri – Italian nickname – is nearing an all-time record with the biggest win. In 1948 at the Olympics, the Italian national team won a landslide victory 9-0 against the United States national team.
Against Armenia, Italy did win 9-1 (scored nine goals), but they have never kept a clean sheet – including in the most recent match – and have conceded five goals in four meetings at home and away.
Roberto Mancini, allenatore (coach) of Italy, is pleased with the results. But, the former Manchester City and Inter Milan coach also want to win trophies to perfect his team’s record.
“It was a pleasant night, the last match was qualifying and we did well. You didn’t score nine goals in international matches today, we did everything to do it. The record only counted when we won the trophy,” Mancini told Rai Sport.
Mancini hopes the great performances of his foster children, plus the performance of young players, will be maintained until the European Cup 2020 begins.
“They are all young players who develop from one game to the next. Playing at the international level provides experience, they have quality, it’s only a matter of time,” added Mancini.
“We will see what happens in the 2020 European Cup. We have never won all 10 matches in qualifying, we have six months to prepare and unfortunately, I have to leave some players because I can only bring 23 players. If we can continue like this, of course great! ” he concluded.
